OrganicClimateNET Project

Share

The OrganicClimateNET Project acts as a pioneer model for the European organic sector, helping farmers to integrate climate farming strategies, thereby enhancing their capacity to mitigate and adapt to climate change. The project will establish a network involving and supporting 250 organic farms to spearhead the integration of organic climate farming. Facilitated by trained advisors, farmers will engage in dynamic peer-to-peer learning and knowledge exchanges within 24 hubs across 12 EU countries.

This project dives deep into sustainable farming by evaluating current practices for their climate impact, environmental benefits, and economic feasibility across regions. It explores carbon farming tools and strategies for monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV), tailoring them for organic and national contexts. Hub coaches will collect data from the farms to establish carbon balances and identify climate-smart practices. The findings will provide a detailed overview of carbon farming activities across Europe, spotlighting risks, challenges, costs, and rewards. Ultimately, the insights aim to boost farm- and policy-level knowledge and offer strategies for scaling up climate-friendly practices.

By identifying and refining existing resources to meet pilot farmers’ needs, the project will adapt, enhance, and translate 120+ Knowledge Materials tools to support on-farm testing and practical application. These materials will be available on the project’s website and at the Organic Farm Knowledge platform, to guarantee their long-term findability. Ultimately, this effort aims to empower farmers, agricultural networks (AKIS), and related projects by fostering knowledge exchange and delivering actionable recommendations for climate change adaptation and mitigation. Tied closely to farm-level outreach, it complements broader dissemination efforts.
