“The AgriCapture project aims to respond to a market need for efficient and streamlined carbon capture solutions in land use, land use change and forestry and develop a platform for quantifying, verifying and promoting soil carbon capture. Through this, it hopes to benefit farmers, food companies, and certifiers of land-based carbon removals.
The project uses Earth Observation – and in particular Copernicus data – to deliver a flexible and scalable solution for soil carbon capture projects and initiatives. It will also leverage farmer participation to ensure accuracy, cost-effectiveness and value to end-users. This will be accomplished through a co-creation approach with target users – agricooperatives, an agri-processor, a Reg Agri certifier, and an emission balance certifying organisation – within 5 diverse use cases located across Europe. To support uptake of project results, the project will establish a European Reg Agri Community, which will be used to raise awareness of Reg Agri, to coordinate and empower farmers, and to inform product launch of AgriCapture through first-hand market information and a direct channel to potential customers.”
